To Anchor Lives In Christ.
CORE BELIEFS
WHAT WE BELIEVE AND TEACH
We believe that all have willfully sinned and fallen short of God's standard, but that there is forgiveness and hope in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)
We believe the Bible teaches that salvation – the forgiveness of sins – is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9)
We believe the Bible teaches that salvation comes by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ and being baptized into Christ. (Romans 5:1-2 / Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9 / Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9; Philippians 2:11; 1 John 4:15 / Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-7; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21)
We believe in the Bible as God's inspired Word. All of our beliefs are found in the Bible and all of our teaching and preaching is based on the Bible. (2 Timothy 3:15, 16)
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's one and only son, our one and only Savior (John 4:9,10 / John 3:16)
We believe that Jesus was born both fully human and fully divine, conceived of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary; that he lived and taught truths as the son of God; that he was crucified for our sins, died on the cross and rose again bodily from the dead on the third day; that he will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead. (Acts 2:22-41 and many other New Testament passages)
We believe in one God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit (John 14:16-20)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity, who dwells within every Christian. (I Corinthians 3:16)
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are equipped to live a life of holiness and righteousness (Acts 1)
As described in the New Testament of the Bible, baptism is in the form of immersion (under the water). It is a burial of the old and a birth of the new. The Greek word baptizō literally means “to put or go under water,” Just as Jesus was buried and rose again to a new life at his resurrection, baptism is a living picture of our death to sin (as we are buried in the water) and a resurrection to a new life (as we rise out of the water).
Romans 6:1-6 describes this picture quite vividly.
3 Distinct Characteristics of Baptism:
1. Baptism is only for those old enough to believe.
Biblical baptism was for those capable of being taught and capable of repentance
(Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37-38).
2. Baptism is by immersion.
We baptize by immersion because that is what we see in the Bible.
3. Baptism is for the forgiveness of sins, and the reception of Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)
The purpose of communion is to remember Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins (Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
How often should we receive communion? The early disciples observed communion on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).
The Bible does not give us an explicit instruction on how often to partake, so we follow the Precedent set by the early church!
The church is called to baptize the nations and to teach them the way of Christ (Matt 28:19–20)
ABOUT LANIER CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Lanier Christian Church began in a living room in 1974. In 1976 the church called a young couple to serve as the first full time minister, David & Faith Simpson. It was in 1976 that the first building was constructed on Browns Bridge Road with the help of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. In 1993, with a need for more space, the church relocated to its current location on Dawsonville Highway. The Lakeside Worship at Gainesville Marina began in 2009.
In 2026 following the reitrment of David Simpson after 50 years of service, LCC called Malachi Bowen and his wife Celina to lead into the next generation of ministry. The church continues to reach all ages for Christ by presenting the simple truth of God's Word and offering service to the community in His name.
