The book of Jude in our Bibles is rarely referenced in sermons and lessons, but in this brief letter, verse 21, we read:
"Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life."
Mike and I visited with our oldest church member yesterday. Rebecca Wolf is 101 years old and as spry as ever. Throughout the years she would often say to me that she talked with "the Father" every single day throughout the day. Then, we would usually converse about what heaven would be like. Rebecca repeated something yesterday that I've heard her say many times concerning heaven and eternal life. She simply said: "I'm ready." She also said she was going to change some things when she got there, but that's another story!
Yet, there is one phrase that Rebecca said back in 2016 that I wrote down concerning her desire for heaven. "Bring it on!" she said.
For now, all of us who are in Christ wait for the mercy of Jesus that will bring us the reality of eternal life with Him. In the meantime we keep the faith, remain in his love, nourish ourselves from his fountain of living water and keep moving forward for Him!
Jude reminded us that the Lord Jesus Christ will "bring you to eternal life." So, maybe we should join Rebecca in longing for heaven and say with her: "Bring it on!"
